2016 Festival Highlights
STRING BANDS TO SWING BANDS
The NorthWest Western Swing Music Society presented this musical
tribute to the development of western swing, the official music of the
State of Texas, during the 2016 Festival and Hall of Fame Celebration.
The narrative was drawn from three books on the history of western
swing by Dr. Jean A. Boyd, Professor of Musicology at Baylor University
in Texas. We were honored to have Dr. Boyd join us for the festival and
approve the script for this feature.
The musical selections were chosen by 2016 Inductee, Gary Williams (TX).
